Western Coalfields Ltd to expand Makardhokra-II Opencast Coal Mine Expansion Project in village Kanhwa in Umrer Taluk in Nagpur district of Maharashtra. The rated capacity of the mine is 1.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of coal production. Mineral transportation of coal is by road. Ultimate working depth of the mine is 145m below ground level (bgl). The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 446.2 million.

Western Coalfields to carry out  Naigaon Opencast Coal Mine Expansion Project in village Bellora, Tehsil Wani, Yavatmal district of Maharashtra. The proposed rated capacity of the mine is to be expanded from 0.80 MTPA to 1.25 MTPA. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 196 million.

Western Coalfields to expand Niljai Opencast mine located in Wani in Yavatamal district of Maharashtra. The proposed rated capacity fo the mine is to be expanded from  2.6 MTPA to 3.5 MTPA.

Western Coalfields to undertake new Dhuptala Opencast Coal Mine Expansion Project


Western Coalfields to undertake new Dhuptala Opencast Coal Mine Expansion Project in village Sasti in Rajura Tehsil in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. The proposal is for production in New Dhuptala Opencast Coal Mine at 0.50 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). The annual rated capacity of the mine is 0.50 MTPA of coal production. Mineral transportation of 1500 TPD of coal is by road to a private coal washery covering a distance of 4.5 km. Ultimate working depth is about 95m below ground level (bgl) which has been reached. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 438 million.

Adani Power to carry out mining at Lohara Opencast Coal Project


Adani Power to carry out mining at Lohara Opencast Coal Project located in Lohara in Wardha Coal blocks in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. The proposed rated capacity of the mine is at 4 mtpa. The coal mined will serve as linkage for its 1000 MW thermal power plant located 200 kms away from the mines. It may be noted, The Taroba-Andheri Tiger Reserve in Chandrapur district is about 12 km.
