Kalyani Steels is to carry out iron and manganese ore mining at village Kumaraswamy Range, in Sandur Taluk, in Bellary district of Karnataka. The proposed rated capacity of the mine is at 0.539 MTPA of iron ore and 0.076 MTPA of manganese ore from an estimated total mineable reserves of 9.10 mt. Method of mining will be open cast mechanized involving drilling and blasting operations. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 250 million.
