After nearly a century, work will start in full flow in Padder mines in Doda district of J&K. Padder mines is world famous for its pure-blue sapphire. Jammu & Kashmir Mining Ltd which is under loss due to terrorism disturbances  is now set to recover its losses from this Padder mines. GMDC, a state government corporation with good financial muscle is expected to get the contract. However, Padder mines  poses enough challenge as mining can be done only around 2 months in a year due to extreme climate conditions and inaccessibility.
