Mahan Coal company to carry out mining at Mahan Open Cast Coal mining project

Mahan Coal company is to open a new Mahan opencast coal mining project, located at villages Amelia, Bhuder, Suggo at Waidhan Tehsil in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh. The proposed rated capacity of the mine is at 8.5 mtpa from a leased mining area of 1090 ha. The project will supply 5 mtpa of coal to 1000 MW Essar power project (located 5 kms away from the mine) and 3.5 mtpa of coal to 650 MW power project of Hindalco Industries (located 22 kms from the mines). The project cost is estimated at Rs. 17000 million.
