Goa Iron ore exports picks up

 
 

Goa iron ore exports have reached around 40 million tonnes, of which 80 % of it are its origin iron ore and the balance from its neighbouring states exports routed through Goa. Rationalisation of duty structure in low-grade iron by the central govt. has boosted the sales and also the revived import from China.

 

Railways withdraw concessions partly to exported iron ore

 
 

With effect from Feb -1, Railways has withdrawn rail freight concessions partly. It has reduced the rebate from Rs.100 per tonne in rail freight. With a rake carrying around 3500-4500 tonnes, Railways can garner around Rs.4 lakh a rake. It may be noted that earlier railways was offering a rebate of around 50% to iron ore.
